Is Magic real?

Is Magic real?

In these enlightened times, is it possible that Magic still exists?

I am a Witch.

I cast spells.

For paying clients.

AND I get a LOT of repeat business. (Do I have your attention now?)

Let’s put aside how and why my customers come to me — instead, let’s talk about what magick (correctly spelt with a K) actually is.

I am reminded of the British Science Fiction author Arthur C Clark, who once said “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” He went on to say “when a scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.”

So why don’t we see magick everywhere? Why aren’t there “Universities of Magick”?

That’s a good question.

Part of the reason must be because there are very few true ‘spell casters’ (people who are skilled in real magick). True spell casters are extremely rare. More than that, we’re often ridiculed!

Worse still, we’re outnumbered and discredited by the many, many charlatans selling ‘spells’ on etsy and other places.

Genuine spellwork requires years of training under a mentor (my Grandmother taught me)… and that presupposes that you have “the gift” in the first place. It’s not something you can learn from a book, YouTube or TikTok. (Any so-called spell you find on the internet is most likely complete garbage.)

Like a “scientist”, the work I do is governed by certain laws. If I do X, Y usually happens. And so on. That said, much of what I do isn’t common knowledge. I don’t think it’s a leap to say that there is more to this world (much more!) than science has been able to fathom thus far. So in a sense, magick — what I do — is nothing more than ‘undiscovered science’.

All that said, there is a world of difference between what I call magick, and what you might have seen in movies (like “The Craft” or “Harry Potter”).

For instance: There are no spells to turn items invisible, make people forget your wrong doings, or change the mind of a jury.

I can’t transform you into a vampire (I mean, why would you want that?) or turn people into frogs.

Just today someone sent me a DM wanting to be transformed from a man to a woman.

Yeah, I can’t do that.

But there are spells to mend a broken heart. Or bring back an ex-lover. or end a cycle of bad luck. Or punish the unpunished. Or heal your long term illness. Or find peace after a trauma or loss.

Such spells usually take a little time to prepare and cast. Very few work immediately. Most spells take several days or weeks… sometimes months. And they usually need to be supported daily.

But they do work.
